The Crew – Scott, Christian, Nicki, James and Brett
I started my adventure in photography when the Cannon AE1 was introduced in 1976! It excited me with its functionalities and opened my eyes to a new way to see the world.
Over the many years, I perfected my skills and started venturing into the world. This involved traveling throughout the country, photographing people, places, artifacts, animals and landscapes. I enjoy the candid shots as well as the staged and I have received rave reviews of my work. Through the years I have sold many of my works and I have been published in magazines and book covers. Other works have been published are on business websites, e-commerce, corporate events, weddings, TV commercials and so much more.
Two of the tenents that I live by are:
- There is AWAYS time to do it right!
- If it’s worth doing, do it BETTER!
When clients come to me they will not be rushed. I take the time to ensure the lighting is right. The poses are perfect. And the people being photographed are relaxed and having fun. Any photo session should be a fun experience. So many photographers are in a hurry to quickly get the shots and go onto the next client. Your time and experience with me is my focus and passion. True customer service is my dedication to you.
Some of the other passions that I have are taking photography to the next level. Transferring a picture into pure art. The camera only captures what it is pointed at, however when looking through the lens and transforming what I see into art is what it is most important. Any person can take a photo, but when it is displayed in front of others they will not see it in the same way. Within someone, I want my art to provoke feelings with emotions. Not just something to simply look at.
In the specialty world, I use different mediums in photography sessions. Using the mediums of ultraviolet light, body painting and projection of abstract images onto the body I have transformed people into real works of art. These shoots can be very intensive and take many hours. Again it goes back to the tenants above. Making that perfect shot to provoke feelings and emotions within someone.
My motto is to be anything but that of the norm. I want it to be special to each individual and the person looking upon the art that is before them. For when those emotions fill you, I have succeeded in presenting art before you.

Mr. Robin Baranov, was born into a family in Crow, Oregon. With an itch for travel and adventure, and that itch continues to this day. Having successfully moved from the West Coast to New England, he then set his sights on his ancestral home of Alaska, a goal here Achieved in August 1995.
Growing up on the road he learned to love nature, architecture, and the beauty of people. This led him to photography as a way to allow him to capture the amazing sights before his eyes, this effort turned serious in 1995. Ever since he has applied his love of learning to keep improving as a photographer.
In 2015 he began professionally photographing weddings at the request of friends and acquaintances. In the last several years he has taken up the role of mentor and teacher to some of the new comers to photography. I grew up in Illinois, moved my three children (at the time) and I, to Alaska in 2007 where I have now added two more “Alaska Grown” babies to my wonderful pack of 5 kids:) I currently focus on capturing moments from maternity all the way through birth, newborn, family, seniors, along with some weddings. I have also worked with many local businesses – pictures for their website, brochures and their buildings. A few include Edge Fitness in Wasilla, Turning Leaf Learning Center in Wasilla, Set Free Alaska in Wasilla, Integrated Women’s Wellness in Palmer.
After hundreds of dollars spent on terrible photos nearly 10 years ago for my family, I began playing around with the camera on my own children along with my nieces and nephews. It wasn’t until people began to contact them, asking where they had their pictures taken, that I decided to go out on a whim and teach myself more about photography. My love for it only began to grow from there! It makes me happy knowing that I am able to help capture the memories that each client is seeking, along with watching everyone’s personalities shine through!
James’ passion for filmmaking was sparked after watching some of his brother’s home movies. He was inspired by the thought of creating little stories of his own to entertain others. Silly little ideas he thought up could suddenly be actualized with the collaboration of his friends, family, and an old video camera. Through the years he has refined his skills by directing a wide variety of short films. He has received great reviews for his work including several of his films that were premiered in local film festivals.
Alongside his passion for narrative based projects, James has filmed weddings, TV commercials, and special events for local theatre houses and college reunions. James applies techniques he has learned over his eight-year career to create engaging products regardless of their intent. He still produces short films in his spare time with his team who have grown a loyal following.
James is a perfectionist; he doesn’t like to rush and cut corners on his work. He takes the time to meticulously plan before every shoot to maximize his creative potential. He firmly believes that when he’s proud of his work, the client or audience will benefit more than anything. His attention to detail and experience makes that happen. He wants to be considered a professional, so he strives to be one.”
